BAMTEC®-Reinforcement Technology

BAMTEC® - the story of an idea

16. 7. 1867

The secret original father?

At the 16 ´th of July 1867 the Frenchman Monier got his patent about the production of reinforced flowerpots. Soon afterwards the first elements made of real reinforced concrete came up.

Oct. 1993

The idea

Dipl.-Ing., Dipl.-Kfm. Wilhelm Häussler and Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Nieder develop the vision of a robot for the production of rolled plane reinforcement elements driven by a file of the static – die idea BAMTEC® is born!

Dec. 1993

The first compare calculation

When doing a comparison of a row of semi-detached houses, a surprising saving of around 50 % with the reinforcement method BAMTEC® is calculated compared to conventional reinforcement using steel mesh.

21.6.1994

First contacts with Nemetschek

On the balcony of the Tea House Hummel in Kempten/Germany representatives of M/s. Nemetschek AG are enthusiastic about BAMTEC®. A successful partnership commences. Nemetschek in co-ooperation with the inventors starts software programming for the BAMTEC® software.

22.7.1994

The setting up

BAM AG in Zug/Switzerland is set up.

11.8.1994

The first licence agreement

M/s. Konrad Kleiner GmbH in Mindelheim/Germany, represented by Mr. Ludwig Kleiner, shows pioneering spirit in becoming the first steel trader to acquire a licence for production and sale of rolling BAMTEC®-elements.

The first trials

Thereafter, M/s. Kleiner constructs two devices on which the first BAMTEC®-elements are produced using the hand welding method.

17.9.1994

The first BAMTEC® site

The pension "Psiuk" in Oy/Germany is the first construction site, on which a BAMTEC®-element is rolled out and installed. Building contractor were M/s. Hubert Schmid of Marktoberdorf/Germany. The site foreman was so excited that he mounted the advertising board the wrong way round so that it could only be seen from the construction site and not from the street. The first video clip was produced.

19.11.1994

The public learns about BAMTEC®

Inside the production shed of M/s. Kleiner/Germany the new BAMTEC® - Reinforcement Technology is introduced to an audience of 250 guests.

26.4.1995

The first BAMTEC®-seminar

In a first BAMTEC®-seminar outside consulting engineers get a training in the use of BAMTEC® Reinforcement Technology the first time and after that they obtain the licence to use BAMTEC®.

15.2.1996

The first software programme version

After one year development work M/s. Nemetschek AG completed with version 11.1 the first BAMTEC® module for the CAD programme ALLPLOT. Based on a finite element calculation this software programme calculates automatically the reinforcement necessary

22.4.1996

The starting signal for automation

M/s. Hundegger in Hawangen/Germany acquires a licence to manufacture and distribute BAMTEC® production machines. In first talks Mr. Hundegger in minutes recognized the consequences of the method.

16.1.1997

The first semi-automatic prototype

M/s. Hundegger/Germany presents the first semi-automatic production robot for BAMTEC®-elements.

1.2.1998

Now also available for Windows NT

With version 14 now available for HP-Unix as well as Windows NT, M/s. Nemetschek AG has eliminated the teething troubles of the first BAMTEC® module versions and created a programme with optimal user friendliness.

15.5.1998

BAMTEC® international

The conclusion of a contract with SFS-Stahl-Service in Heerbrugg/Switzerland initiates the international spreading of production of BAMTEC®-elements.

9.7.1998

BAMTEC® goes England

HY-TEN Reinforcement LTD in Bootle/England takes over the production of BAMTEC®-elements for the United Kingdom.

20.1.1999

Netherlands

The supply of the BeNeLux-countries with BAMTEC® is made sure by M/S. Rolmat BV in Valkenswaard/Netherlands.

13.10.1999

BAMTEC® down under now

On its way around the world BAMTEC® reaches the southern part of the globe in Australia where M/S. BHP Reinforcing Products makes BAMTEC® running.

21. - 24.02.2000

World of Concrete

At the “World of Concrete”, the most important concrete fair of the world, BAMTEC® becomes one of the five most innovative products of the fair.

02.03.2000

BAMTEC® pretty easy

Zweistein Software introduces BAMTEC® easy. With BAMTEC® easy also users of AutoCAD are able to generate BAMTEC®-reinforced elements automatically by software. BAMTEC® easy can be downloaded from the homepage of Zweistein Software.

05.05.2000

Sofistik develops BAMTEC®

The big software supplier Sofistik starts developing BAMTEC®-software.

13.06.2000

BAMTEC® reaches Scandinavia

The company Fundia Amering A/S starts introducing BAMTEC® to Scandinavia.

20.07.2000

First BAMTEC® report published

Quaterly a BAMTEC®-report is published to inform about the further development of BAMTEC®

17.08.2000

Technosoft programs BAMTEC®

As the first company abroad Technosoft begins with the development of BAMTEC®-software.

05.09.2000

First BAMTEC® fully automatic machine

At M/s. BAMTEC® Bewehrungstechnik GmbH in Münchsmünster/Germany the first fully automatic BAMTEC® machine is put into operation with a big presentation. Revd. Schubert pronounces the blessing on the machine.

06.09.2000

Foundation of Onesteel
The australian company BHP Broken Hill Properties sets up a new company for its reinforcement branch. Up to the end of the year 3 machines are operating.

10.11.2000

Named machine

At M/s. SFS Stahl-Service/Switzerland the second fully automatic machine becomes openend. Ceremoniously it was named "Cornelia".

end of 2000

BAMTEC® today

Worldwide about 15 machines are producing BAMTEC®-reinforcement now, 5 software supplier develop BAMTEC®-software.
